Romanian swimmer David Popovici (21) and Chinese swimmer Pan Zhanle (21) have been training together for nearly two weeks. On Friday, the two swimmers gave an exclusive interview to GSP.ro, where they spoke about the purpose of their training camp in Bucharest, their first impressions of each other at the 2022 World Championships in Budapest, when they met for the first time in competition, what they admire about one another, and what else connects them beyond swimming.
David Popovici ended the Trofeo Sette Colli competition in style, adding a second gold medal to his record. Our champion also won the 200-meter freestyle event in the Rome pool, setting a new competition record, and is in outstanding form ahead of the European Championships in Paris, which will take place from August 10–16.
David Popovici competed this evening in the final of the 200-meter freestyle, the last event of the Sette Colli International Trophy in Rome, where he won the gold medal. The 21-year-old swimmer already has a gold medal in the 100 m freestyle and a silver medal in the 50 m freestyle.

David Popovici won three medals at the Sette Colli Trophy: two gold and one silver. At the end of the competition in Rome, the Romanian swimmer said he was pleased with his performance on Italian soil.
